Workshop: a long-running automotive repair business in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand. Role: Panel Beater / Repair Technician. What counts: the standard of your actual repairs, backed by solid technical skill, careful attention to detail and a professional way of working.
Expect a wide mix of jobs, from structural repairs to prestige vehicles, with the chance to work on high-profile brands like Tesla and Jaguar Land Rover. Tools and equipment are up to date, and staff receive ongoing I-CAR certification training along with structured development, so existing skills keep improving.
Pakistani technicians and other applicants should prepare an English CV and trade documents before applying.
Key Responsibilities
- Study the job sheet and assess the required repair before any work begins
- Complete panel and collision repair work with accuracy and professionalism
- Use only approved repair methods and the instructions given in the workplace; check with management if extra guidance is needed
- Test-fit new parts, confirm the fit is right, and flag parts that are incorrect, missing or extra
- Have all allocated repairs done before a vehicle goes through to paint
- Label each removed component with its job number and keep removed parts identified and neatly stored
- Prepare repaired parts and components for handover to the Paint Department
- Check the vehicle during final reassembly, including headlight alignment and other necessary adjustments
- Examine completed work for safety and quality, then sign it off after the required checks
- Maintain an efficient workflow without dropping below expected repair standards
Requirements & Eligibility
- Either at least 3 years' relevant technician experience, or a Trade Certificate of an equivalent Level 3 or Level 4 standard
- Practical, demonstrated experience in vehicle repair or panel beating
- Reads and interprets job sheets, follows repair procedures, and handles technical tasks with no need for constant supervision
- Puts accuracy, quality and safety first in every repair
- Collaborates easily with others in the workshop
- Holds a full clean driving licence
- Organised and a good communicator, with a high level of attention to detail
- Current residency in New Zealand, or a valid work visa that applies
- Committed to continuing technical training and professional development
