Production Team Member/Supervisor

Location: East Tamaki, Auckland. The business: an expanding New Zealand food manufacturer. The role: Food Production Supervisor / Operator, in charge of the factory floor and accountable for every batch reaching standard.
This job is very much hands-on. Working with a compact crew, you will be involved at every stage, from prepping ingredients and batching to operating machines, checking quality, cleaning and coordinating the line. Some hours you lead, others you produce, depending on what the day demands. Previous food manufacturing experience is expected, along with the confidence to own output targets, food safety, quality and support for your team. Your reliability and precision will show directly in daily production.

Key Responsibilities
- Draw up the daily production plan and give each person their tasks, so manufacturing finishes safely, efficiently and on time
- Weigh, measure and double-check ingredients, then batch and manufacture to approved recipes
- Operate mixers, fillers and other food plant, keeping an eye on machines and processes to avoid hold-ups
- Protect consistent product quality, run quality checks and catch production issues early
- Enforce every food safety and Good Manufacturing Practice requirement, and keep processes and recipe controls accurate
- Carry out cleaning and sanitation, plus daily equipment washdowns
- Ensure the production area is neat, orderly and meets workplace standards
- Follow daily output targets and suggest ways to run more efficiently
- Coach and back up production team members
- Partner with the Production Manager when operational problems need resolving
- Deliver orders and production requirements accurately and by deadline
- Observe all Health & Safety procedures, report hazards, and step in on any production task when needed
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven track record in food manufacturing or commercial food production
- Has held a role as Production Supervisor, Team Leader, Senior Production Operator or similar
- Has worked where an approved food control plan applies
- Strong knowledge of what food safety, hygiene and quality demand
- Practical skill running food manufacturing machinery, for example mixers, fillers or comparable production equipment
- Can follow recipes, measurements and manufacturing procedures precisely
- Strong eye for detail; committed to consistent product
- Capable of leading and supporting a small production team
- Comfortable on a hands-on production floor and able to meet daily output targets efficiently
- Dependable, hard-working and physically capable of production and cleaning work, and willing to do repetitive tasks and washdown duties
- Well organised with strong communication; picks up new machinery and production systems fast; keeps the workplace clean and safe
- Current forklift licence is advantageous
- A suitably qualified overseas candidate can be offered sponsorship
