Senior Project Engineer, Queensland (QLD): a construction team that is expanding wants an experienced engineer to own project coordination, provide reliable technical direction and play a confident part in delivering complex civil works.
In engineering, qualifications are only part of the story; demonstrated project experience, technical capability and a professional record matter just as much. Candidates will be assessed on qualifications, engineering history, project exposure and general suitability.
This permanent role runs on a 2/1 DIDO/BIBO roster. The competitive package covers base salary, superannuation, project uplift, a work vehicle and a KPI bonus. Applicants from Pakistan should prepare an English CV that details each civil project they have worked on.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and supervise engineering activity on large civil construction projects
- Back the Project Manager so projects are delivered safely, efficiently and on agreed timeframes
- Confirm site activity complies with the approved drawings, specs, budget and project requirements
- Build, monitor and revise project plans, programs and construction schedules, and coordinate the sequence of work so it lines up with approved programs
- Give site personnel and project teams technical and engineering advice
- Interpret and check civil, structural and services drawings, identifying technical issues and managing queries until resolved
- Assist with procuring and engaging subcontractors and suppliers, and keep watch over their performance, costs and deliverables
- Monitor quality requirements and ensure proper quality control procedures are applied
- Support cost management and budget tracking, preparing monthly financial reports and cost-to-complete forecasts
- Identify risks, construction problems and potential delays on the project
- Collaborate closely with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, suppliers and other stakeholders
- Set a strong safety example and uphold high standards throughout all project work
Requirements & Eligibility
- Holds a Civil Engineering Degree or an equivalent
- Minimum 7 years' experience as an engineer within civil infrastructure or construction
- A demonstrated record of contributing to major civil project delivery
- Thorough understanding of civil construction methodologies
- Interprets civil, structural and services drawings confidently, and has experience managing technical queries and solving engineering issues
- Sound knowledge of sequencing, scheduling and planning in construction
- Has managed subcontractor and supplier budgets
- Familiar with quality control and quality assurance systems
- Strong awareness of project management and commercial matters
- Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management
- Demonstrated commitment to health and safety in the workplace
- Can work a 2/1 DIDO/BIBO roster
- Relevant Australian work rights, or eligibility for employer sponsorship, which is available for suitably qualified and experienced candidates
