Project Manager

Role: Senior Project Manager, Auckland CBD. Portfolio: a mixed group of prominent facilities, each with building work that is technically demanding.
Experience needed: you have taken construction, renewal, refurbishment or building-services jobs through to handover, keeping engineering demands in balance with commercial pressures and the operational needs of each site.

Key Responsibilities
- Client-side lead: act for the client as owner of large physical works projects
- Planning: define scope and set out resourcing, budget, programme and delivery approach
- Team coordination: head project teams, direct contractors and consultants, liaise with stakeholders and check that contractors and consultants deliver
- Delivery control: keep cost, time, risk, quality and results under control, and resolve technical or delivery hurdles
- Live facilities: supervise building and renewal work inside facilities that stay open, so day-to-day operations carry on
- Technical scope: assess technical and building-services needs, and coordinate electrical, mechanical, structural, fire and water works
- Compliance: confirm that building and regulatory compliance obligations are satisfied
- Stakeholders: run project communications and keep expectations realistic
- Reporting and contracts: produce reliable project and financial reports, and keep documentation and contract requirements in order
- Portfolio: juggle multiple projects at once
- Team growth: pass on knowledge and help colleagues develop
Requirements & Eligibility
- Seniority: senior-level project management background in construction or building settings, with complex projects delivered from early planning right through to completion
- Building knowledge: strong grasp of building construction and renewal works, and technical knowledge of building services and critical systems
- Facility type: experience managing projects in complex or publicly accessible facilities preferred
- Regulations: familiarity with New Zealand building regulations and compliance requirements
- Contracts: understanding of NZS 3910 contracts
- Commercial: strong commercial and financial awareness
- Communication: excellent skills in communicating and managing stakeholders
- Judgement: sound problem-solving and decision-making, with the ability to handle competing priorities and deadlines
- Education: relevant tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline preferred
- Verification: a proven work history that the employer can verify
