Key Responsibilities

  • Running service: direct the kitchen each day so service is delivered efficiently
  • Cooking: prepare, cook and plate dishes to menu specifications using professional techniques, with consistent quality
  • Workflow: organise food prep, ingredient handling and how work moves through the kitchen
  • Stock and waste: keep track of stock and ordering, and reduce food wastage
  • Compliance: apply strict food safety, hygiene and compliance practice
  • Team: lead, train and support kitchen staff
  • Quality checks: inspect finished plates against presentation and quality expectations
  • Menus and costs: put forward ideas for menu improvements and new offerings, and help control food costs, portions and kitchen efficiency
  • Kitchen care: keep equipment maintained and work areas clean and organised, showing reliability, professionalism and real commitment to hospitality excellence

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Culinary qualification that is recognised, or relevant professional chef training
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a restaurant or commercial kitchen
  • Proven capacity to manage food preparation and deliver consistent service standards
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene procedures and kitchen compliance
  • Background supervising, training or supporting kitchen staff
  • Works well at a fast pace, communicates strongly and puts the team first
  • Creative with food preparation, menu development and presentation
  • Good grasp of kitchen operations, inventory control and food costing
  • A proven work history, with culinary skills and professional experience that can be verified
  • Sponsorship pathway: suitable candidates may be supported, depending on eligibility and requirements
