Restaurant Manager

Role: Restaurant Manager, Christchurch Central, Canterbury, New Zealand. Permanent and full-time.

Running a busy restaurant takes more than covering shifts. The employer wants a hospitality leader who has real management experience and who will own the performance, development and consistency of the front-of-house team.

In practice you will be the main link between management, staff and guests: making service standards clear, backing the team and making sure every customer gets the same reliable experience. Your experience and background must match the role and be verifiable. Managers applying from Pakistan or elsewhere should have an English CV and supporting documents ready.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take charge of how front of house performs overall, and work with management to make operations more efficient and consistent
  • Lead a mixed team of local and international staff, coaching and developing them to lift service quality and performance
  • Set clear standards for customer service and operations, track team performance and give constructive feedback
  • Supervise opening and closing procedures, plus daily cash-up and money handling
  • Handle reservations and coordinate booking needs
  • Manage guest flow so service stays efficient at peak times
  • Help management with rosters and staff scheduling
  • Keep Directors and General Management informed
  • Apply workplace policies and procedures consistently
  • Spot service problems and act to fix them
  • Build good relationships with guests to encourage return visits, and support initiatives that grow customer satisfaction and revenue
  • Ensure liquor is served responsibly and all applicable requirements are met
  • Keep the workplace positive and professional

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in restaurant management or a similar senior hospitality role
  • A demonstrated record of running front-of-house operations
  • Proven skill in leading, training and developing hospitality staff, handled in a mature, professional way
  • Strong understanding of high-volume restaurants that run multiple sittings
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong customer service and the ability to build relationships
  • Working knowledge of hospitality service standards
  • Sound grasp of licensing compliance and liquor service
  • Can keep guests flowing smoothly when trade is busy
  • Strong decision-making and organisation
  • Remains calm and effective when under pressure
  • Ready to learn the products, systems and procedures specific to the venue
  • Flexible availability for evenings and weekends
  • Able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week across 5 days
  • Genuine, verifiable hospitality employment; candidates must be able to provide appropriate information or documents supporting their background where required
