Restaurant manager

The idea behind the role: a strong restaurant manager does more than keep service moving. They shape a setting that brings customers back and lets the team perform with confidence.

Position: experienced Restaurant Manager for a quality hospitality venue in Indooroopilly, Brisbane QLD, acting as a highly visible leader on the floor. You will set the tone during service, build real rapport with guests, support and energise the front-of-house team, and find practical ways to lift both the guest experience and revenue.

Target: help raise restaurant sales by approximately 15–20% within the first three months.

Hours: regular evenings, 4:00pm to 9:30pm, with no early mornings or split shifts. Progression into a full-time position may be possible, depending on experience and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee front-of-house during evening service so everything runs without disruption
  • Set high customer service standards, keep them consistent, and help uphold strong presentation and service standards throughout the venue
  • Be present and easy to approach throughout service, welcoming each customer and creating a good first impression
  • Form real connections with regular customers that encourage loyalty and repeat visits
  • Create an engaging atmosphere that makes guests want to return
  • Motivate, coach and lead the front-of-house employees, modelling professional, hands-on leadership
  • Identify improvements to service, operations and the overall customer journey
  • Upsell where appropriate to raise customer spend, contributing to the planned 15–20% rise in restaurant sales
  • Review customer feedback and handle any concerns professionally
  • Get staff to take ownership of customer satisfaction
  • Foster an energetic, positive, performance-focused team culture
  • Take initiative and pursue opportunities independently, without constant supervision

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A proven track record as a Restaurant Manager or in another senior hospitality management role, backed by a strong background in hospitality operations that deal directly with customers
  • Naturally friendly, warm and approachable personality
  • Engaging, confident communication style and excellent spoken English
  • Polished, professional presentation
  • Strong ability to build customer relationships, plus genuine enjoyment of talking and interacting with customers
  • Able to recall customer preferences and develop repeat relationships
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills; manages a restaurant in a hands-on way
  • Commercial awareness and a solid grasp of how restaurant sales work
  • Confident upselling and raising the average spend per customer
  • Performs well in a busy, fast-paced hospitality environment
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving and initiative
  • Available for the 4:00pm to 9:30pm hours
  • Australian work rights or eligibility for employer sponsorship, and able to satisfy applicable Australian immigration and sponsorship requirements
