The person they want is a driven hospitality operator who leads well and understands how a business makes money. You will be answerable for how the store performs, how the team is built and coached, the service guests receive, stock and the financial numbers, plus meeting food safety and workplace rules.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee everything that happens in the venue on a given day
  • Follow sales and profit results closely
  • Hold wage costs and running expenses in check
  • Write and adjust the staff roster
  • Hire new people, induct them and train them up
  • Mentor team members and handle performance conversations
  • Set a high bar for service, dealing with customer questions and complaints in a professional way
  • Check stock on hand and organise purchasing
  • Count stock regularly and cut waste
  • Keep suppliers on side
  • Read sales data and pick out where the business can improve, then act to raise revenue and efficiency
  • Make sure food looks, tastes and is served the same way every time
  • Enforce health and safety at work, food safety law and company policy
  • Keep operating and business records in order
  • Help the business and the team keep growing

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years of full-time work as a Retail Manager, Café Manager or comparable hospitality management position
  • Has run a busy, high-volume retail or hospitality site
  • Has led and supervised a team of 10 or more employees
  • Hands-on with rosters, labour cost control, inventory and purchasing
  • Strong in sales analysis and managing finances
  • Excellent at leading and managing people
  • Strong communicator with a customer service focus
  • Makes sound business decisions and solves problems
  • Uses Microsoft Office and POS systems
  • Understands food safety and workplace health and safety obligations
  • Can work evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • A qualification in Hospitality, Business or Management is advantageous
  • A Food Safety Supervisor Certificate is desirable, and a First Aid Certificate is also desirable
  • Hospitality POS systems experience is an advantage; having opened new stores or run multiple locations is advantageous
