Security Officer

Position: Security Officer at a sensitive, high-security site in Canungra, Queensland. Dependable people are needed, and hiring is set up so that each applicant's identity, credentials and suitability can be properly checked for a security-sensitive setting.
The work covers keeping operations secure, protecting people and assets, managing who comes in and acting on security concerns. A security qualification alone is not enough: the employer expects professionalism, good judgement, discretion and a strong personal sense of responsibility.
Eligible candidates who satisfy the employment, visa and security requirements may have sponsorship opportunities, and those without the needed clearance may be considered for support through the clearance process, subject to eligibility and applicable conditions. Australian Citizenship may be required for clearance eligibility, so check that point before anything else.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage entry points at secure facilities so that only authorised people get through
- Patrol on a routine basis, watching activity across the site for potential security concerns and dealing with suspicious behaviour
- Respond to alarms, incidents and emergencies, using good judgement when handling incidents and deciding when to escalate
- Act as a visible, professional and approachable security presence
- Speak clearly and effectively with authorised staff, contractors and visitors
- Follow set security procedures and site protocols every time
- Write accurate reports, logs and other security paperwork, and keep sensitive information confidential
- Help sustain a workplace that is secure, respectful and professional
Requirements & Eligibility
- Hold a current QLD Security Licence
- Australian Citizenship may be required in order to be eligible for security clearance
- Current security clearance is advantageous
- Willing and eligible to go through the required security clearance process
- Successfully satisfy the identity, credential and background verification requirements that apply
- High standards of honesty, integrity and accountability, shown in how you work
- Strong communication skills, close attention to detail and a high level of situational awareness
- Composed and professional under pressure, and able to follow strict security and operational procedures
- Earlier experience in security or in another sensitive operational environment is desirable
- Eligibility for sponsorship under the relevant requirements, where applicable
