Sheetmetal Tradesperson/CNC Operator

Hiring: CNC Operators, as well as experienced tradespeople from the sheet metal trade, who can bring verifiable hands-on ability to an organised production floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up machines for the production schedule and run CNC press brake, punch, laser and tube laser equipment
  • Work from production specifications and technical drawings
  • Check and measure parts at every step of manufacturing so quality stays consistent and accurate
  • Spot production problems and resolve them where appropriate
  • Observe safe work procedures and all workplace requirements
  • Keep your work area organised, clean and tidy
  • Cooperate with fellow operators to achieve daily targets
  • Put your practical trade knowledge to use to improve manufacturing outcomes and support continuous improvement in production processes
  • Propose safer, quicker and more effective ways to complete tasks

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Hands-on CNC operation experience of at least 2 years, using press brake, punch, laser or tube laser machinery; candidates with 2+ years of relevant sheet metal trades experience may also be considered
  • Experience on Trumpf equipment is highly desirable
  • Technical knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing that you can demonstrate
  • A precise, first-time-right approach to workmanship
  • Can follow production specifications and technical instructions
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards
  • Effective member of a production team, willing to offer practical ideas for improving processes
  • Available for fixed day, night or graveyard shifts
  • Able to commit to at least 40 hours per week
  • Anyone needing sponsorship must meet the relevant New Zealand visa requirements
