Position: full-time Sous Chef at a long-established hospitality venue in Sutton Forest, in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales.
Focus of the job: partnering with the Head Chef to produce quality café meals and event dining, while holding food quality, kitchen efficiency and food safety to a very high standard.
Hours and lifestyle: the venue trades mainly in the daytime, with functions and events now and then, which makes for a good balance between work and life.

Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Head Chef on planning and developing the menu
- Cook and plate meals of high quality that follow recipes and presentation standards, keeping prep and presentation consistent
- Support day-to-day café service as well as function catering
- Adjust dishes for dietary needs and guest preferences
- Keep track of stock levels and help manage inventory
- Reduce food waste through sensible kitchen practice
- Uphold strict standards for hygiene, cleanliness and food quality, applying HACCP principles and food safety procedures at all times
- Meet workplace health and safety requirements
- Cooperate with front-of-house staff and the kitchen team, helping build a positive, professional atmosphere
- Keep the kitchen running efficiently when service is busy
Requirements & Eligibility
- Diploma of Hospitality or higher qualification
- Minimum 1.5 years working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
- Has previously worked under the supervision of a Head Chef
- Strong knowledge of HACCP procedures, hygiene and food safety
- Background in food preparation and menu planning
- Works efficiently in a fast-moving kitchen while keeping food quality and consistency at a high standard
- Excellent communication and teamwork
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Willing to work weekends, plus extra hours in peak periods
