Spray Painter and Panelbeater

Opening: Spray Painter and Panelbeater roles at an automotive workshop on Auckland's North Shore. The business is growing and adding Panel Beaters and Spray Painters to an expanding team.

The workshop is after people with genuine time on the tools, proven technical skill and a history of quality finishes. You will be trusted to take on many kinds of vehicles and to own each job until it meets a professional standard.

International applicants are welcome, and your past jobs and trade background will weigh heavily in deciding whether you suit the role. Applicants in Pakistan should prepare an English CV that sets out that history clearly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair vehicle bodies and carry out professional panel beating
  • Spray paint and refinish vehicles
  • Handle many different vehicle makes and models
  • Fix rust and complete the body restoration that goes with it
  • Prepare damaged panels and surfaces before repair and paint
  • Work out what each repair needs, use the right technique and see allocated jobs through from start to finish
  • Keep finish quality and workmanship high
  • Follow workshop processes and safety rules
  • Organise your tasks to hit agreed deadlines, working confidently without constant supervision
  • Communicate well with the rest of the workshop and keep the workspace professional and organised
  • Help with race car preparation, events and track days as required
  • Back up the team when the workload rises

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience
  • Proven work history as a Panel Beater or Spray Painter
  • Hands-on experience across many vehicle makes and models
  • Panel Beater applicants need practical rust repair experience
  • Can complete repairs independently from start to finish
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Able to demonstrate genuine, verifiable work experience
  • Self-motivated and reliable, with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Works well in a multicultural team
  • Good spoken English is essential
  • NZ residency or an existing NZ work visa is advantageous
  • International applicants are welcome, and sponsorship is available for suitable international candidates
  • Minimum availability of 30 hours per week
  • Flexible to work Saturdays in busy periods when required
