A Queensland employer has a full-time opening for an experienced Stonemason based in Yatala, Gold Coast. Candidates need proven ability in both stone fabrication and stone installation.
Day to day, the job means working on residential and construction sites and converting measurements and technical plans into completed installations: benchtops, splashbacks and made-to-order stone features.

Key Responsibilities
- Go through technical drawings and project specifications ahead of any stonework, then measure precisely and calculate the materials required
- Cut, shape, polish and finish stone to each project's requirements
- Get stone components ready for fitting
- Fit stone benchtops, splashbacks and other architectural features
- Carry out fireplace, barbecue and custom stone installations
- Inspect finished work for alignment, measurements, finish and overall quality
- Sort out any measurement, fabrication or installation problems as they come up
- Liaise with installation crews and other trades to coordinate project requirements
- Run specialised stoneworking machinery and hand tools, and keep all equipment and tools in sound working order
- Apply workplace health and safety procedures through every stage of the job
Requirements & Eligibility
- Formal trade training or a recognised stonemasonry qualification, plus a trade certificate in stonemasonry
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant professional experience
- Demonstrated hands-on experience fabricating and installing stone
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Competent with professional equipment for stone cutting, shaping and finishing
- Proven care with precision, measurements and quality of finish
- Practical problem-solving skills in fabrication and installation settings
- Ability to work independently and also contribute effectively within a team
- Good physical capacity to handle and install stone materials, with commitment to safe work practices and professional workmanship
- Ability to provide supporting evidence of your qualifications and relevant employment experience
