Support Workers

A leading healthcare support organisation in Canterbury, New Zealand is recruiting Support Workers for its community, residential and healthcare services across the region.
Your work will centre on helping people with everyday tasks, getting involved in their community, reaching wellbeing goals and growing personally. Assignments span mental health, disability support, community care and healthcare settings, so the variety is real.
The role suits caring, dependable people who want flexible work and the chance to improve lives. If a police certificate is requested, applicants from Pakistan can arrange a police character certificate.
Key Responsibilities
- Support people living with disabilities, mental health needs and complex care requirements across community, residential and healthcare settings
- Help clients with daily living tasks, personal goals and taking part in community life, encouraging them to keep meaningful lifestyles
- Develop respectful, positive relationships with service users, their families and support networks
- Stay calm and professional when situations become difficult or behavioural support is needed
- Champion each client's independence, dignity, wellbeing and inclusion
- Work to care plans, workplace procedures and health and safety rules
- Keep accurate records and communicate clearly with healthcare teams
- Provide dependable, person-centred care to a consistent professional standard
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 6 months' experience in a role such as Community Support Worker, Disability Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, Mental Health Assistant or similar
- Prior experience with people who have complex needs, disabilities or mental health requirements is highly regarded
- Full New Zealand Driver's Licence, and confident driving service vehicles where required
- Can commit to regular shifts with reliable availability, and can work a range of shifts, including weekends when required
- Can meet safe working hour requirements and manage availability responsibly
- A caring, respectful and professional manner backed by strong communication skills
- Stays calm and effective in challenging situations and is committed to high-quality person-centred support
- Able to work in a mix of community, disability, mental health and healthcare settings
