Drury, Auckland, New Zealand: an established distribution team is hiring reliable Class 2 and Class 5 truck drivers.
Two types of work, depending on your licence and suitability:
- Local delivery: runs across the Auckland region
- Line-haul: heavy combination vehicles moving between customers, company sites and distribution centres
More than driving: you will also load and unload freight, get vehicles ready and support the wider transport operation.
What the employer needs: drivers it can trust to handle freight, vehicles and customer deliveries professionally and safely, with the right licence, practical driving capability and attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate Class 2 or Class 5 heavy vehicles responsibly and safely
- Run scheduled local deliveries around Auckland
- Drive heavy truck-and-trailer units on line-haul runs where required, moving products between customers, distribution centres and operational sites
- Make deliveries and collections on schedule
- Secure, load and unload freight safely, and help prepare freight and trucks for each day's operations
- Do routine safety and vehicle checks, reporting any freight, vehicle or operational problems promptly
- Fill in the delivery and transport paperwork required
- Follow all of the company's operating, health and safety procedures
- Communicate professionally with colleagues and customers, representing the business well on the road
- Work on your own while contributing to the wider transport team
- Help with other practical transport tasks when required
- Adapt to changes in routes, workloads and shift requirements
Requirements & Eligibility
- Current clean New Zealand Class 2 or Class 5 driver's licence, and able to operate the relevant heavy vehicle safely
- Class 5 candidates must be capable of operating heavy combination vehicles, and Class 2 candidates must be capable of completing local delivery work
- Demonstrated ability to drive heavy vehicles with safety
- Previous heavy vehicle experience is preferred but not essential for candidates who can demonstrate the required capability
- Forklift licence is an advantage but not mandatory
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe driving
- Dependable work ethic, reliable attendance, positive attitude and a willingness to learn
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work alone and in a team, and willing to take on physical transport-related duties
- Flexible to work varying shifts, including at night
- Available Monday to Saturday as rostered
- Able to pass pre-employment drug screening
- Able to satisfy applicable New Zealand visa and employment requirements
