Diesel Motor Mechanic

Role: Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic based in Hamilton, Waikato, New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy diesel vehicles
- Repair diesel engines and other mechanical components once the issue has been identified
- Track down complex mechanical faults and fix them effectively
- Troubleshoot hydraulic systems
- Find and repair electrical faults
- Use diagnostic equipment and software on vehicles
- Keep maintenance documentation accurate, recording each repair and service completed
- Follow health and safety requirements on every job
- Keep your work area organised and professional
- Work both in the workshop and outdoors
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a heavy vehicle diesel mechanic
- Full Class 1 driver's licence
- Class 4 licence highly regarded
- Strong knowledge of diesel mechanics
- Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems and with vehicle electrical systems
- Competent using diagnostic tools and software
- Comfortable working on your own or within a team
- Strong communicator with good documentation and record-keeping habits
- A safety-first mindset
- Physically fit for mechanical work in both workshop and outdoor conditions
- Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
- Must successfully complete a medical assessment
- Must pass a Ministry of Justice check
- Existing New Zealand work rights required, or eligibility for an AEWV
