Furniture Upholsterer

Employer: a long-established furniture restoration and recovering business in New Zealand.
Position: Furniture Upholsterer, hands-on and workshop-based. You should already know the trade well enough to take on different furniture pieces without lengthy training.
Hours: 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, with overtime when the workload rises.
What you need: a proven work history, a sharp eye for detail and the physical capability for recovering work in a workshop. Applicants from Pakistan should prepare an English CV before applying.
Key Responsibilities
- Re-cover and reupholster pieces in antique, traditional and contemporary styles, and complete restoration work to a professional standard
- Choose the right upholstery method for each type of furniture and work through projects largely on your own
- Operate upholstery tools, machines and workshop equipment safely
- Prepare, position and shift furniture frames during production, lifting them on and off benches
- Help load and unload furniture for transport
- Hold a high standard of finish, accuracy and workmanship
- Work alongside the team members who handle cutting, sewing and frame building
- Keep the workshop tidy, safe and organised
- Work 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, and help with overtime when work picks up
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least 5 years of professional furniture upholstery experience, verifiable
- Proven hands-on work across a range of furniture styles
- Can complete upholstery work with limited supervision
- Strong practical knowledge of restoration and recovering techniques
- Operates relevant upholstery tools and equipment safely
- Physically capable of lifting and handling furniture frames
- Close attention to detail and consistent finishing standards
- Reliable, able to keep to a full-time schedule and willing to work overtime when business demands require
- Cutting and sewing skills are an advantage
- Furniture frame-making experience is an advantage
- Must meet applicable requirements for sponsorship consideration
