An award-winning country hotel in the Southern Alps, near Queenstown, New Zealand, has an opening for a Chef de Partie. The hotel runs many functions and weddings, so the role covers a wide variety of service.
First, you need a minimum of 2 years in a similar fast-paced kitchen. Second, you must have Kiwi / western cooking experience. Third, the contract is full-time and permanent, starts immediately and gives a minimum of 30 hours per week on a 4-day roster covering weekends and nights. Fourth, you commit until mid-April 2027, when the summer season finishes.
On visas, the hotel gives preference to citizens and permanent residents, or to people with at least 6 months on their work visa, and sponsorship may be available to the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- Learn the daily menus and the ongoing menus
- Know the function plans and specials
- Run the kitchen and service effectively when the senior chef is off
- Operate grills, microwaves and deep-fat fryers safely and set temperatures correctly
- Clean preparation and service areas daily
- Check stock is on hand in the right quality and quantity
- Make sure every dish component is to standard, cooked properly and ready on time
- Carefully follow every recipe and instruction
Requirements & Eligibility
- Commercial kitchen experience, 2 years
- Kiwi / western cuisine, cooking experience
- Hospitality, cookery or culinary qualification, preferred
- Quick working speed
