A long-established Australian floor coverings business in Perth has a permanent full-time vacancy for a commercial Flooring Installer. Here is what the job involves, step by step.
First, the projects. You will install floors for Tier 1 and Tier 2 builders on commercial sites in Perth and across Western Australia, reporting to the Site Supervisor.
Second, the way of working. You stay with the coverings you specialise in, plan the job before you begin, aim to get it right the first time and leave a clean, professional finish. You work closely with the builder's site team and the other trades.
Third, the standard. Installations must be good quality, delivered on programme, completed safely and kept to minimal defects. Visa sponsorship is available for suitably qualified overseas installers.
Finally, your CV. Prepare a clear English CV that lists your commercial flooring projects, your specialty and your trade qualification, and organise your flooring CV with Build AI CV before applying.
Key Responsibilities
- Lay resilient floors such as sheet vinyl and LVT, if that is your area
- Weld seams and form coving on resilient floors
- Lay carpet and carpet tiles, if that is your area
- Grind and patch the subfloor
- Prime and level the subfloor
- Measure moisture and flatness, then record the figures
- Set out and measure using drawings and finishes schedules
- Coordinate with the builder's site team and other trades to meet the programme
- Inspect, store and protect site materials; minimise waste
- Submit timesheets, daily reports, quality checklists and photo records; obey site safety rules, inductions and safe work method statements
Requirements & Eligibility
- Experience: at least 3 years in commercial flooring, gained in Australia or abroad
- Trade skills: at least one of subfloor preparation, carpet installation or vinyl installation
- Qualification (preferred, not required): a floor covering trade qualification such as Certificate III in Flooring Technology, or an overseas equivalent in qualification or experience
- Safety card: WA White Card, or able to obtain it before the start date
- Driving: a driver's licence valid in Australia
- Attention to detail: strong
- Reliability and on-site communication in English: good
