AUD to PKR at Rs. 193.0839: how Pakistani applicants should read the State Bank rate
Tips · 2026-10-26 · 10 min read

AUD to PKR on the State Bank of Pakistan's mark-to-market sheet for 7 October 2026 was Rs. 193.0839 for one Australian dollar, with the New Zealand dollar at Rs. 155.2705 and the US dollar at Rs. 277.0214 on the same sheet. Use that figure to plan a budget, not as a price: the State Bank issues it so that banks can revalue their books each day, and the rate your bank or exchange company charges you will be its own. Below: how to read the sheet, check it against Australia's central bank and turn visa charges into rupees honestly.
The State Bank sheet for 7 October 2026 in three lines
The document is called "Exchange Rates for Mark to Market Revaluation by Authorized Dealers in Foreign Exchange". For each currency it gives a ready rate: the number of Pakistani rupees for one unit of that currency on that date. Three lines matter to anyone planning work in Australia or New Zealand.
| Currency | Ready rate on 7 October 2026 | When a Pakistani applicant uses it |
|---|---|---|
| Australian dollar (AUD) | Rs. 193.0839 | Australian visa charges, salaries, rent and savings targets |
| New Zealand dollar (NZD) | Rs. 155.2705 | AEWV and residence charges, New Zealand pay offers |
| US dollar (USD) | Rs. 277.0214 | Cross-checking the other two against official US dollar rates |
Write the date next to every rupee figure you calculate, so anyone in your family checking your sums can see exactly where the number came from.
What a mark-to-market rate is, and what it is not
The State Bank says it issues these rates for Authorized Dealers to revalue their books daily on a mark-to-market basis. In plain words, banks holding foreign currency need one agreed daily price to value it in rupees, and the sheet is that price.
So the figure is a reference point. Nobody in Lahore, Karachi or Islamabad is obliged to sell you Australian dollars at Rs. 193.0839. It is still the best starting number for planning, because it is official, it is dated and it covers AUD, NZD and USD on one page.
Why your bank or exchange company quotes a different number
When you actually change money, a bank or exchange company quotes two rates: a buying rate for currency you sell to it and a selling rate for currency you buy from it. The gap between the two is how it earns, and it is set by that business, not by the State Bank sheet.
Card payments follow the same logic. If you pay an Australian or New Zealand charge with a Pakistani debit or credit card, your card issuer turns the dollar amount into rupees at its own rate and may add its own charges. Plan with the official rate, then leave room in your savings for the difference: a budget that only just works at the State Bank rate will not work at the counter.
A second opinion from the Reserve Bank of Australia
You can test the sheet on the Australian side. The Reserve Bank of Australia does not publish a rupee rate, but its daily exchange rate table gives the US dollar and the New Zealand dollar against the Australian dollar.
- Dividing the State Bank's AUD rate by its USD rate gives about 0.6970 US dollars per Australian dollar for 7 October 2026. The RBA's own figure for 16 October 2026 was 0.6947.
- Dividing the AUD rate by the NZD rate gives about 1.2435 New Zealand dollars per Australian dollar for 7 October 2026. The RBA's figure for 16 October 2026 was 1.2285.
The two banks agree closely; the small gaps come from the different dates. So never mix dates in one calculation: multiplying the RBA's 16 October US dollar rate by the State Bank's 7 October rupee rate gives about Rs. 192.45 per Australian dollar, a number that belongs to neither day.
Turning official charges and pay into rupees
The table below converts figures from official Australian and New Zealand pages at the 7 October 2026 State Bank rates. Each rupee amount is a rough comparison at the rate published on that date; rates change, and your bank's rate will differ.
| Official figure | Amount | Rough rupees |
|---|---|---|
| Skills in Demand (subclass 482) base application charge | AUD4,015.00 | Rs. 775,200 |
| 482 charge for each additional applicant under 18 | AUD1,005.00 | Rs. 194,000 |
| 482 for a couple and one child under 18 | AUD 9,035 | Rs. 1,744,500 |
| Accredited Employer Work Visa (from) | NZD $1540 | Rs. 239,100 |
| Skilled Migrant Category Resident Visa (from) | NZD $6450 | Rs. 1,001,500 |
| New Zealand adult minimum wage, 40-hour week | NZD $958 | Rs. 148,700 |
| Core Skills Income Threshold for 482 nominations, a year | AUD79,423 | Rs. 15,335,000 |
The 482 figures come from the Home Affairs visa pricing table, where each additional applicant 18 and over pays the same AUD4,015.00. English tests, health checks, police certificates and biometrics cost extra, and our breakdown of apostille, police certificate and attestation costs in Pakistan covers the rupee costs at home.
For pay, the same method works in reverse to judge an offer. Our guide to the Pakistani salary in Australia in rupees takes the Census median, award rates, tax and super step by step, so this post does not repeat it. If you are weighing a New Zealand role, such as this duty manager job in Christchurch, convert the offered pay with the NZD line, not the AUD line.
How much a one-rupee move changes
Every time the Australian dollar moves by Rs. 1, the 482 base charge moves by Rs. 4,015, and the family example above moves by Rs. 9,035. A dated figure and a savings cushion matter more than the third decimal place.
Five steps to convert any amount yourself
- Take the amount from the official page. Copy the figure exactly as Home Affairs or Immigration New Zealand shows it, with the currency, for example AUD4,015.00 or NZD $1540.
- Open the State Bank sheet for one date. Note the ready rate for AUD or NZD and write the date beside it.
- Multiply to get rupees. Australian or New Zealand dollars times the ready rate gives rupees. To go the other way, divide: Rs. 1,000,000 of savings is about AUD 5,179 or about NZD 6,440 at the 7 October 2026 rates.
- Round sensibly. Round to the nearest hundred rupees for planning. A figure like Rs. 775,231.86 suggests a precision no bank counter will match.
- Check the real rate before you pay. Ask your bank or card issuer for its rate and charges on the day, and keep the receipt with your visa papers.
Once your rupee budget adds up, the next step is an English CV with every job's dates and duties; Build AI CV can help you lay it out. Then browse the sponsored jobs in Australia and New Zealand and read our guides to the Skills in Demand (482) visa from Pakistan and the New Zealand AEWV.
Costs you should never convert, because you should never pay them
Some people quote employer costs in rupees to make them look like normal visa fees. Home Affairs says the sponsoring employer must pay all costs of becoming a sponsor and nominating a worker and cannot pass them to the visa holder or their family. Those fees include AUD420 to become an approved sponsor and AUD330 to nominate for the 482, together about Rs. 144,800 at the 7 October rate, plus the Skilling Australians Fund levy, which employers must not pass on either.
Paying an employer to sponsor you is illegal in Australia, including through salary deductions, and can lead to visa refusal or cancellation, fines or imprisonment. In New Zealand, employers cannot charge you fees for a job or make you pay their recruitment costs, even through a third party. Immigration New Zealand also says it never asks for visa fees to be paid into a bank account; read its scam protection page before you pay anything.
Pakistani law points the same way. Under section 22 of the Emigration Ordinance, 1979, anyone who is not a licensed Overseas Employment Promoter and demands or receives money for providing foreign employment can be imprisoned for up to fourteen years and fined up to two million rupees. Our guide to paying money for a job abroad explains the one narrow case in which a payment is lawful, and the checks to run on any job offer letter from Australia come before any rupee leaves your account.
Common mistakes Pakistani applicants make with AUD to PKR
- Treating the State Bank figure as the price. It is a revaluation rate for banks. Your counter or card rate will be different.
- Using an undated rate. A rate from a WhatsApp forward with no date cannot be checked.
- Mixing currencies. New Zealand charges are in NZD. Converting an AEWV charge with the AUD rate overstates it by about Rs. 58,200.
- Budgeting only for the visa charge. Tests, medicals, police certificates and biometrics come on top, and family members pay their own charges.
- Paying "sponsorship fees" in rupees. Employer costs are the employer's to pay, and asking you for them is against the rules in Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I find the latest AUD to PKR rate from the State Bank?
The State Bank of Pakistan publishes its mark-to-market revaluation sheet on its own website, with ready rates for the Australian, New Zealand and US dollar. This guide uses the sheet for 7 October 2026, so open the one for the date you need.
Will my bank give me the State Bank rate when I buy Australian dollars?
Not necessarily. The State Bank says the sheet is for Authorized Dealers to revalue their books daily, so it is a reference rate. Banks and exchange companies set their own buying and selling rates, and card issuers apply their own rate and charges.
How do I convert NZD to PKR for a New Zealand job offer?
Multiply the New Zealand dollar amount by the NZD ready rate on the State Bank sheet. On 7 October 2026 that rate was Rs. 155.2705, so the New Zealand adult minimum wage of $958 for a 40-hour week was roughly Rs. 148,700.
How much is the 482 visa charge in Pakistani rupees?
The base application charge for the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) is AUD4,015.00. At the State Bank rate of 7 October 2026 that is roughly Rs. 775,200, before English tests, medicals, police certificates and biometrics, and before any family members' charges.
Someone wants me to pay the sponsor's fees in rupees. Is that normal?
No. In Australia the sponsoring employer must pay the costs of sponsoring and nominating you and cannot pass them on, and paying for sponsorship is illegal. In Pakistan, anyone who is not a licensed Overseas Employment Promoter and takes money for foreign employment commits an offence under section 22 of the Emigration Ordinance, 1979.
