A long-standing trucking and freight business is filling a permanent, full-time vacancy for a Diesel Motor Mechanic in country New South Wales. The position covers heavy commercial vehicles. Staff work either at Dubbo or at a second Riverina workshop whose roster rotates through Dubbo.
In this role you diagnose complex faults, repair them, and carry out preventive maintenance on prime movers, trailers and bulk freight equipment. The aim is low downtime and full compliance with NHVR, chain of responsibility and WHS rules.
Visa sponsorship (subclass 482) is offered to suitably qualified candidates. Applicants who currently hold a valid visa in Australia are preferred; this is a preference, not a requirement. The employer also requires a licence, a medical and a drug and alcohol test.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned servicing (preventive and logbook) of engines, transmissions and brake systems in accordance with OEM guidelines
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical and emission control faults with advanced equipment and rectify them
- Overhaul major assemblies and complete fabrication tasks on request
- Ensure NHVR compliance at all times and file detailed audit documentation
- Observe workshop safety procedures
- Open, update and close work orders in the fleet management system
- Respond to roadside breakdowns and support driver training in vehicle inspections and defect reporting
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years of heavy diesel mechanic experience, preferably in road transport
- Qualification in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
- Experience with NHVR standards and bulk freight equipment is desirable
- Proficient with diagnostic software
- Working knowledge of petrol and diesel engines
- A current licence; must pass a medical and a drug and alcohol test
