A general practice near Newcastle, New South Wales has a full-time, permanent vacancy for a Registered Nurse. Here is what the role involves and what you need.
First, the clinical side: triage, chronic disease management plans, health assessments, wound management and immunisations, including childhood immunisations. Next come procedures: ECG, spirometry, iron infusions and venesections. Finally, practice tasks: recalls and reminders, stock, ordering and the cold chain.
Experience in general practice is preferable. Without it, you can still be considered, because on-the-job training will be provided for the right candidate. Temporary Residence / Permanent Residence sponsorship is available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the patients' contact point and take calls when the desk is busy
- Triage new arrivals and write up plans for managing chronic disease
- Complete health assessments and keep patient recalls and reminders going
- Control stock, place orders and manage the cold chain
- Carry out ECGs and spirometry, along with iron infusions and venesections by IV
- Dress wounds and give immunisations to patients, children among them
- Help at minor procedures, look after clinic equipment and back up the doctors and team
Requirements & Eligibility
- Current unconditional registration with AHPRA in place
- Current immunisations certificate, or willing to undertake the training
- CPR certificate
- Current Working with Children Check
- Good work ethic
- Organisational skills and time management skills
- Can work independently (autonomously) and in a team
- Handles a fast-paced environment well
- Previous general practice experience is preferable
