A disability support service in Tauranga, New Zealand is filling a full-time contract position for a Support Worker / Life Facilitator within a 24/7 support team. The client being supported lives with tetraplegia, is highly motivated and has full-time commitments.
The work is organised around three areas. First, personal cares and daily activities. Second, companionship. Third, driving and accompanying the client so that work and family commitments are met, including some travel.
Shifts follow a roster. Day shifts run from 7 am to 5 pm; night shifts run from 5 pm to 7 am and include a sleepover period. Expect about 35 hours or more per week over about 2 to 4 shifts, plus 2 weekend shifts per month. The client and team provide comprehensive training. The employer is accredited and has job tokens to support work visas, meaning AEWV sponsorship is offered.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out personal cares for the client

- Assist the team with 24/7 roster coordination
Requirements & Eligibility
- Working towards a health and wellbeing qualification on the NZQA framework at Level 3 or higher
- Good understanding of the coordination of a 24/7 roster
- Practical, hands-on training experience linked to a care plan and job description
- Professionalism, honesty, trustworthiness and reliability
- Good communication skills, with the ability to adjust to changing needs
- Initiative, common sense and a positive working attitude
- Driver licence and a high level of English
- Strong availability: afternoons, evenings, sleepovers and 2 weekend shifts a month
