First, the experience: around 2 to 3 years in Australian public practice. Second, the work: statements, returns and BAS for SME clients, companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals, reviewed by an experienced Senior Accountant. Third, the growth: more responsibility and direct client work over time, mentoring, CPA or CA development support, and a path to Senior Accountant and Client Manager.

Key Responsibilities
- Draw up financial statements for the client base
- Complete tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
- Get Business Activity Statements ready
- Handle the accounting and taxation side for SME clients
- Assist people with personal returns and year-end planning
- Be the contact point for clients, and for the ATO when a matter calls for it
- Plan your work around statutory deadlines and support the Senior Accountant on the portfolio through Xero and similar cloud tools
Requirements & Eligibility
- An accounting background of around 2 to 3 years, gained in Australian public practice
- Prior work on financial statements for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
- Prior work on tax returns for those same entity types
- Practical understanding of Australian tax and compliance rules, BAS included
- Strong command of Xero
- Good communication in writing and in speech, plus strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working to competing deadlines
- Tertiary study in accounting, commerce or equivalent; CPA or CA studies, current or planned, highly regarded
