A bakery near Burnie, TAS is hiring a Baker / Pastry Chef with two core strengths: pie-making and creamery products such as ice cream, custards and dairy-based desserts.
First, the work itself, which covers scratch-made sweet and savoury pies, consistent pastry, a dairy dessert range and a clean, well-stocked kitchen. Second, the schedule, which means early morning shifts on a full-time or part-time basis. Third, the opportunity to give input into recipes, seasonal specials and the menu.

Key Responsibilities
- Make pie pastry from scratch for both sweet and savoury lines
- Cook the fillings and complete the finishing on each pie
- Turn out ice cream, custards and further dairy-based creamery goods
- Keep every product at the expected level of quality, consistency and presentation
- Rotate stock in the correct order and place ingredient orders
- Maintain a clean kitchen in line with food safety and hygiene standards on every shift
- Create new recipes or improve existing ones, and plan seasonal specials when suitable
- Support kitchen and front-of-house colleagues so each day's production goals are achieved
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven baking experience as a baker, pastry chef or similar, particularly strong in pies and in creamery or dairy products
- Strong command of pastry fundamentals, namely dough, lamination and blind baking
- Sound understanding of food safety requirements and of preparing dairy-based desserts
- Dependable and well organised, ready for early morning shifts, with genuine passion for baking and care for detail
- Relevant certifications (food safety handling, for instance) are a plus
