A highly regarded restaurant in Canberra is recruiting a Chef for a full-time role. The kitchen produces inventive dishes and works with sustainable, locally sourced ingredients.
The work runs in steps. First, you prepare and cook a wide menu to a high standard. Second, you manage your own station during service. Third, you work with the Head Chef on menu development. Fourth, you mentor junior staff and attend training. Food safety and hygiene must be followed strictly throughout.
On sponsorship, the restaurant states it is available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- Cook a broad set of inventive dishes, plated to a strong standard
- Keep quality, plating and service consistently excellent
- Plan new dishes and improve current recipes together with the Head Chef
- Apply hygiene and food safety regulations strictly in every task
- Control your own station so service runs in order
- Coach junior kitchen staff, and be present at regular team meetings and training sessions
Requirements & Eligibility
- Chef background of at least 2 years, gained in a quality restaurant with a fast pace
- Either formal culinary training or a relevant hospitality qualification
- Excellent kitchen technique, with close attention to detail and plating
- Thorough understanding of hygiene and food safety practice
- Strong communication and an ability to work well in a team
- Real enthusiasm for locally sourced, seasonal produce
- Capacity to adapt and perform in a busy kitchen
- Capacity to work under high pressure
