Key Responsibilities
- Daily kitchen operations and service preparation, carried out in support of the Head Chef
- Preparation, cooking and presentation of high-quality dishes that meet venue standards
- Smooth delivery of lunch service, dinner service and weekend service periods
- Consistency of food quality, taste, portion control and presentation
- Assistance with menu preparation, with food planning and with kitchen workflow, plus monitoring of stock levels, food storage, ordering needs and wastage
- Handling, preparation and storage of all food according to food safety requirements
- Upkeep of cleanliness, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards
- Support and guidance for junior kitchen staff where required
- Close cooperation with the kitchen and front-of-house team for a positive customer experience
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience, served as a Chef or Senior Chef
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification
- Strong knowledge in two areas: commercial kitchen operations and food preparation
- Able to assist the Head Chef with daily operational requirements, and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced restaurant and bar environment
- Strong attention to three things: detail, presentation and consistency
- Good skills in both communication and teamwork
- Sound understanding of the standards for food safety, for hygiene and for workplace safety
- Flexible availability, which includes evenings, weekends and public holidays
- An attitude that is reliable, professional and positive
- Current Australian work rights at the time of application
