This opening is for four experienced Waitstaff at a Mexican-themed restaurant in central Christchurch, New Zealand, doing full-time front-of-house service.
Step one is the service standard. Every guest should get first-class attention, and every plate and glass is sold and served the way the house system lays out. Step two is the team style: staff bring their own character to the floor and enjoy it, without losing sight of what each table wants.
Step three is the schedule. Expect a full-time load of no fewer than 30 hours weekly, covering evenings, Saturdays and Sundays and the peak summer season, plus regular coaching sessions held in-house.
Step four is the visa position. Because the restaurant holds accredited employer status, it is able to sponsor staff under the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) and will help with immigration steps if required.

Key Responsibilities
- Receive each guest on arrival, then walk them through the menu and current offerings
- Write down orders correctly at the table
- Carry plates and drinks out from the kitchen and bar
- Clear finished tables, lay them for the next guests and maintain overall cleanliness
- Enter every order in the POS system and settle each bill by electronic or cash payment
- Make sure liquor service follows New Zealand law, supporting managers as they enforce the licence conditions
- Recommend menu items and services, and finish each regular in-house training module
Requirements & Eligibility
- A record of at least six months in a comparable position, or a Level 2 or 3 Diploma qualification
- Sound understanding of New Zealand liquor laws
- Ready to cover night and weekend shifts and the peak summer period
- A willingness to work hard at a fast pace
- Commitment to learning what the restaurant offers and the standard of service it expects
